Car Paint Repair

A good paint repair is one nobody notices. That's the whole point — you shouldn't be able to find where the work started or stopped. Between Utah's high-altitude sun, winter road salt, and gravel-happy canyon roads, paint takes a beating out here, and blending a repair back into a factory finish is harder than most people expect.

We handle paint work at our shops in West Jordan, Midvale, South Jordan, Saratoga Springs, American Fork, and Lindon.

What paint damage usually looks like

Most of what comes through the door falls into a few categories:

  • Rock chips and road-debris nicks, especially on hoods and front bumpers

  • Scratches and scuffs — anything from a shopping cart to a parking-garage pillar

  • Clear-coat failure and sun fade, where the finish goes dull, chalky, or starts to peel

  • Panel damage after a collision that needs a full refinish, not just a touch-up

A small chip or a light scratch is sometimes a quick fix. A hood that's faded after years in the Utah sun, or a panel that's been through a wreck, is a different job entirely. Bring it in and we'll tell you honestly which one you're looking at before you spend a dollar.

Color matching is the part that actually matters

Here's what most people don't realize: your paint code doesn't tell the whole story. Two cars built on the same line with the same code can drift apart after a few years of sun, so the code is a starting point, not an answer. Silvers, pearls, and tri-coats are the unforgiving ones — get the mix a shade off and the repaired panel lights up in daylight like it's been flagged.

So we don't just spray to the code and call it finished. We pull the code, mix to it, then fine-tune the match against your actual panel under proper lighting. And instead of painting a single panel edge to edge, we blend the new paint into the panels around it so the transition disappears. That blend step is the difference between a repair you can't find and one you spot from across the lot — and it's usually the step a cheaper shop skips to save time.

A finish that holds up

Once the color's right, the refinish itself has to last. We spray in a controlled booth and cure the finish properly, then color-sand and buff so the repaired area matches the texture and gloss of the panels next to it. Done right, the new clear coat protects the work and stands up to the same sun and salt that damaged the car in the first place.

Our technicians are I-CAR Gold Class certified, and we're factory-certified for more than twenty manufacturers — including Tesla, Rivian, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and Subaru. That matters more than it sounds. Many automakers now require specific waterborne paint systems and refinish procedures to keep your factory finish and corrosion warranty intact, and cutting corners on those isn't something we do.
