Auto Body Frame Repair
A bent frame is the kind of damage you usually can't see. After a hard collision the sheet metal might straighten back out, the doors might close, and the car might even drive — but the structure underneath can still be pulled a fraction of an inch out of spec. That small amount is enough to wear tires unevenly, throw off how the vehicle handles, and change the way it protects you in the next crash. Getting the frame back to where the manufacturer built it is the whole job.
Structural repair, measured against factory spec
Most cars and crossovers on the road today are unibody — the frame and body are one welded structure, so damage in one area transfers load to another. Trucks and larger SUVs often still use a separate frame. Either way, we don't eyeball it. Your vehicle gets anchored on a frame bench and measured with a computerized system that compares hundreds of control points to the original factory dimensions. That measurement is what tells us exactly where the structure moved and how far it needs to come back.
From there, straightening is a controlled process, not brute force. We apply pulls in the sequence the metal was damaged in, re-measuring as we go, until the readings match spec. Where a section is too compromised to save, replacement follows the manufacturer's structural repair procedures — which matters more than it sounds. Modern vehicles mix high-strength steel, boron, and aluminum, and each has rules about where you can cut, how you weld or rivet, and what you're not allowed to touch. Ignoring those procedures is how a "repaired" car ends up weaker than it was designed to be.
That's the reason our certifications aren't just wall decoration. We're I-CAR Gold Class, the industry's top training standard for collision repair, and we hold OEM certifications for more than 20 manufacturers — Tesla, Rivian, Ford, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Subaru, Honda, Toyota, and others. For structural work especially, those certifications mean we're following the exact repair methods the automaker wrote for your specific vehicle.
Before you get the car back
Structural repair almost always affects things bolted to the structure. Once the frame reads correct, we check wheel alignment, and on vehicles with driver-assist features we recalibrate the ADAS sensors that live in the bumpers, grille, and windshield — a camera or radar that's pointed even slightly off after a frame pull won't warn or brake when it should. The last step is a road test, so the person handing you the keys has actually confirmed the car tracks straight and drives the way it did before the accident.
Frame and structural repair is handled at our South Jordan, Saratoga Springs, Midvale, and American Fork locations. Estimates are free, and if you're going through insurance we work directly with most major carriers — we're a Direct Repair Program shop for Progressive, State Farm, USAA, Allstate, GEICO, and others, and we accept all insurers.
If your car was in a collision and something feels off — pulling to one side, uneven tire wear, gaps that don't line up — bring it in and let us measure it. Call your nearest location or request a free estimate, and we'll tell you honestly what the structure needs.
