Window Replacement
A broken car window never happens at a good time. A rock kicks off the back of a truck on I-15 and the chip you meant to deal with spreads clear across the glass overnight. A collision leaves a side window in pieces across the passenger seat. However it happened, driving with damaged glass isn't something to sit on — and at Unique Auto Body, it's something we take care of the right way.
We handle auto glass and window replacement at all seven of our Utah locations: West Jordan, Midvale, Midvale Central, South Jordan, Saratoga Springs, American Fork, and Lindon.
Can it be repaired, or does it need to be replaced?
That depends on which glass took the hit. Windshields are laminated, so a small chip caught early can sometimes be filled instead of replaced. Wait too long, though, and a crack that creeps past a few inches — or lands right in your line of sight — turns into a safety issue and a replacement job.
Side and door windows are a different story. They're made of tempered glass, which shatters into small pieces instead of cracking. There's nothing to patch, so those always get replaced. Same goes for most rear windows after a hard impact.
If you're not sure which category you're in, bring it by. We'll tell you straight whether a repair will hold or whether replacement is the smarter call.
Why Utah is rough on auto glass
Glass around here takes a beating. Gravel and sand left on the roads through winter get thrown up at highway speed. Canyon drives up Parley's, Provo Canyon, and the Cottonwoods mean loose rock and the occasional rockfall. And the temperature swings we get along the Wasatch Front — warm afternoon, freezing night — are exactly what turns a harmless chip into a running crack. A lot of the windshields we replace started as small dings someone hoped would hold.
Getting it done right
Replacing glass on a modern vehicle is more involved than it used to be. Many newer cars have driver-assist cameras and sensors mounted at the windshield, and once the glass comes out, those systems have to be recalibrated so features like lane-keeping and automatic braking read the road correctly. Skip that step and the glass might look fine while the safety tech behind it doesn't work the way it should.
That's where being properly certified matters. Unique Auto Body is I-CAR Gold Class certified and holds manufacturer certifications for more than 20 brands, so your vehicle's glass — and the systems tied to it — get put back to the standard it was built to. We match your car's specifications rather than reaching for whatever's cheapest on the shelf.
We'll handle the insurance side too
Glass damage is often covered, and we work directly with insurance companies to keep the claim moving so you're not stuck playing middleman. If your repair is part of a larger collision job, we roll the glasswork into the rest of it, so you're dealing with one shop instead of three.
Estimates are always free, at every location. Stop by whichever shop is closest, or reach out and we'll get you scheduled and back on the road.
